Why, does the Reformation Matter? When we talk about the Protestant Reformation, we often times think about it in terms of something that happened a long time ago in a place far away. Or we think that it was a one time event by a Monk named Martin Luther. But the reality is that the reformation is so much more and an ongoing event. All that we have a Protestants is due to the great men of God who started and spread the simple idea that the gift of Grace that delivers us form our sins was through Christ and by Christ and him alone and is only receive by faith alone.
Romans 1:17. “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” (ESV).
The Reformation does matter and continued to matter. We have a lot to thank the Reformers for and their work in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They not only changed the face of our faith, but the world as well, by presenting the fact that salvation is found in Christ and Christ alone and received through faith in him alone. There is no other pathway or mechanism that delivers us from our sins. The fact that today we gather as Protestants is in thanks to the Reformation and it very much has a role in what we do and have today. It is also why we as the Church are “Semper Reformanda,” reformed and always reforming.
Today the first of a two part series on “Why the Reformation Matters?” was released to the podcast. The second part will be released tomorrow. We are please to have Pastors from our sister Churches join Pastor Darren and I in a panel discussion on “Why the Reformation Matters?” I would definitely not miss the opportunity to hear and learn more about the Reformation and its implications to us and for us today as we continue to “Semper Reformanda.”
Have a happy Reformation Day (October 31), but more importantly, have a great day in the Lord,
